A practical introduction to Shakespeare by the Pheonix Theatre
On Tuesday, 7th March, during our “Prüfungs- und Projekttage” two actors from the Pheonix Theatre, that have been touring through various parts of Germany for the past few months, instructed our grade 11 (Q1) in acting.
We were introduced to playing a character through some warm-up exercises, besides literally walking and moving around, simply greeting each other. We came up with hilarious imaginary gifts to hand out to one another while learning how to improvise and react to an unexpected gesture. Our students finally performed short plays written by themselves in front of both entire LK courses.
Today’s workshop turned out to be an entertaining experience, discovering an actor’s variety while slipping into powerful characters like an emperor or powerless characters like peasants.
